I work at a men’s clothing store. Many of you know.
Today the designer of the clothing line came into the store and decided to go through the new items we should be receiving shortly.
She gets us to stand around in a circle, the owner of the company, the manager of my store, the assistant manager and myself, plus a few other corporate looking types and hands around what to me looks like a pom-pom gone wrong. (Sonia Rykiel would have been grumpy.)
She says to us, proud and crazy, ‘oh-kay-now. These are my colour swatches for the next release. Get used to them. You need to know what you’re selling.’
Without thinking (and probably because of a compounded feeling of anger and distraught and disappointment and drowsiness from four hours of sleep - see yesterday’s post re: ORANJE YEAH), I looked at the ‘swatch’ in my hand and said, ‘what, Christmas trees?’
